Village of Heritage OKs maintenance fee hike
FONTANA - The fear of green, well-manicured grassy areas turning brown and being overrun with weeds at the Village of Heritage has been calmed. Ballots mailed in by property owners were opened Wednesday, and 64 percent supported increasing the landscape maintenance fees. The assessment fees haven't changed since 1993. About 3,500 single-family homeowners pay $380 each year. It is one of the lowest rates in a landscape maintenance district in the city. But the landscape fund was drying up due to increased costs to water and maintain 5million square feet of landscaping. "I didn't want the neighborhood to go down because I plan to live there as long as possible," said supporter Adrian Powell, who has lived there for four years. The housing development is east of Interstate 15 between Base Line and Foothill Boulevard.

Talk of The Town: Easter stories too good to pass up
That's the question my 5-year-old posed to my husband and me last Saturday. Without thinking, I answered, "No, he rings the doorbell and Mom lets him in."Of course, then I was greeted by a flood of questions about what the bunny looks like and would I wake him up when the bunny got to our house. My goodness the trouble a parent can get into when they underestimate their child.I know Easter is over, but I received a few really good bits to share with you related to the holiday. So here they are:In 1961 Pat Kulas and his future wife Ann attended Notre Dame High School in Milwaukee. They went to the prom together the day after Easter. For the special date, he brought her an Easter egg, dyed red and decorated with white lace and flowers."I saved it," Ann said. That was the beginning of a long-standing tradition for the couple, who has now been married for 43 years. They, along with their two children, granddaughter Hannah Kulas, and friends have been elaborately decorating Easter eggs for years.
Flavor staff offers some helpful tips for a drug-free 4/20
Every year my friends and I celebrate 4/20 in the most hardcore way. We save up money all year long and then buy our tickets to Amsterdam. When we get there we go on a week-long binge of wordy goodness at the Amsterdam Annual Spelling Bee. Keith Beebe Celebrate 4/20 the right way: with a big bag of grass. Earth Day (April 22) is approaching, and nothing says "environmentally aware" like a plush, fertile green lawn. Your friends, especially the ones who wear excessive amounts of hemp and constantly reek of incense, will appreciate your love of landscaping and hatred of crab grass. David Rauch There is a lot to celebrate on 4/20: -It is Adolph Hitler's birthday; punch the closest German's shoulder.
